productive procrastination
I've been procrastinating more than usual in the past few days due to being sick with covid. So, I started what I call productive procrastination, where you do something that is useful while still avoiding your main task.
But, before jumping to that, I need to say that I also set up a timer for some apps that I realized I was scrolling way too much. That way, I keep the stupid urge of checking posts every 10 minutes at bay.
So! Productive procrastination can be cooking a complicated meal (usually, baking something is preferred, because if you get tired of this, you can go do your main task and the meal will bake itself), cleaning your room, doing your eyebrows etc. But I will list what I've started doing in my "productive procrastination time":
- Created this blog (lol);
- Downloaded and installed Arch Linux on my old Chromebook;
- Did some light EDA on data found on Kaggle;
- Started to understand how Github works (this is an ongoing effort);
- Read and did some light research on relationship anarchy which led to journaling and more thinking;
- Researched about GHG measurements and reports.
It was a wild ride! Specially installing Arch Linux which I am still tinkering. But, I think a wiki might come out of it, since there wasn't one for my Chromebook model. We'll see.
My point is that procrastination can be so much more than just scrolling through pictures and pointless posts. It can lead to more knowledge or skill (useful or not by society standards).
I hope this gives you some inspiration on how procrastination can be productive as well.
